Halloween in Vegas 2009
I can't think of a better place to spends Halloween. Vegas is warm, exciting and everyone gets dressed up. Half of the people dressed up a sexy version of something or other, the other half dressed up as zombies, but they all tended to stay pretty close to the slot machines and are there year-round ;) I was only in Vegas for four days, but it seemed like so much longer. Exploring the strip, enjoying the nightlife, the Bellagio fountain, the speedway; it was a great time. I flew down and spent the first day by myself wandering the strip, checking out the amazing Bellagio Halloween display, and being amazed by the construction changes since the last time I was there. I stayed at Planet Hollywood and met up with a friend the following day. He had a box at the speedway, so we drove north to check that out. Later, Drew, his brother Matt, and dad, Bill, got into town, so after a couple unsuccessful attempts (who knew that "Flamingo" was such a popular name in Vegas), we finally met up and got ready for Halloween night.
After a sensational evening at Privé night club, several bars, walking the strip, blackjack, craps, and some assorted hotel rooms, we decided to walk to Fashion Show Mall and check out the pirate show at Treasure Island. There is nothing quite like walking with the rest of the tourists and checking out the luxuriousness and excess of Las Vegas Boulevard. A delicious meal, night of rest, game of poker, time spent lounging by the pool, a quick drive to the airport, and I was on a flight back home after a great few days away from reality.
